Meet Macy
Macy’s journey in pet care began in Hong Kong in 2009, when she became involved with the SPCA’s Cat Colony Care Programme (CCCP). Alongside caring for community cats, she fostered both cats and dogs until leaving Hong Kong at the end of 2014.
Through her rescue and foster work, Macy gained hands-on experience with orphaned and bottle-fed kittens, sick and injured cats, recovering animals, and pets requiring medication, close observation, or extra patience. These experiences taught her to recognize subtle changes in behaviour, body language, comfort, and stress.
In 2010, Macy began her professional grooming career and opened Love Cats House, a specialty cat-supply business with two locations and an in-house grooming department for cats and dogs. That same year, she completed one of Hong Kong’s early locally developed professional pet grooming certification programs.
After moving to Canada, Macy returned to grooming school in 2016 and became a Certified Pet Groomer. Over the next several years, she built extensive Canadian grooming experience through retail and independent salons, dog-focused grooming, in-home services, and eventually professional mobile grooming. Working across these different environments broadened her skills in handling, coat care, client communication, and adapting the grooming process to the individual pet.
In 2018, Macy completed the training curriculum for the Certified Master Cat Groomer program, further strengthening her knowledge of feline grooming, handling, coat care, and breed-specific techniques.
By 2019, mobile grooming became her main focus. The quieter, one-on-one environment of a fully equipped grooming vehicle proved especially well suited to the way she works with cats.
In October 2024, Macy founded KittyCat Pet Grooming, bringing together more than a decade of professional grooming experience with years of rescue, foster, and feline-care work.
Her approach is simple: observe each cat, respect its limits, work calmly, and provide the care that individual cat needs.
